Emerging Aquaculture - Prawns and Shrimp - The University of Georgia with the Georgia Department of Industry, Trade and Tourism are looking at ways to produce fresh and saltwater shrimp. A number of producers in Georgia attempted to raise the freshwater prawn in 1999 and 2000. They installed nursery systems and ponds to grow the prawns for the food sized market. Some successes as well as failures occurred as these producers used various adaptations of recommended methods for prawn production.

Ocean Farming: An Emerging Agribusiness? - Ocean farming has the potential to become the most productive means of raising animals for food. We can tap this potential by applying technologies such as direct fertilization of the ocean. We can also use more traditional production systems, such as confining fish in feed lots or net-pens, technologies that have proven themselves very efficient for raising tuna, salmon, and many other species in both warm and cold climates.

United Anglers of Casa Grande - Tom is a dedicated teacher who had a dream to save the creek, a dream that was realized with the help of twenty years of amazing students. "It's an absolutely wonderful, wonderful story of persistence. I love 'em all," he beams. Tom teaches Wildlife Biology at Casa Grande High School in Petaluma. The school is just across the street from Adobe Creek. One day back in 1983, Tom decided to explore the then-barren creek.

US Trout Farmers Association - USTFA is the oldest commercial aquaculture trade organization in the United States. It was organized in 1954 by a group of trout farmers interested in creating a strong, unified voice for the national trout industry. It has grown steadily ever since and now has members in nearly every state and many foreign countries. In 1956 the association began publishing the first magazine in commercial aquaculture, US Trout News & American Fishes.
